Benefits of Linen

Linen is another perfect fiber from Mother Nature. Linen is strong, breathable, getting more and more soft after each wash, and beautiful while wearing it.

Linen is a very strong fiber. I have heard of sheets made of linen that last 4. generations and they are still in use. In a workshop for elder people, I have seen an older lady coming  4 times per week - and she was weaving sheets in linen every day during her time in the workshop. Even though each sheet cost about 200 $, in  price for material, she had a long list of people wishing her to weave sheets for them. Due to the very good quality of the linen. I was convinced this summer at the craft show in Belmond, Iowa when I saw dresses made of linen, which were over 100 years old.

If you ever have been in Italy in summer time, you will for sure have seen business men dressed in elegant  suits and they still look comfortable at a warm summer day, then you can be sure their suits are made of linen. Tests have shown if you wear linen the temperature is 3-4 degrees below cotton or other fibers.

So with all the above-mention benefits I have no doubt in my heart to work with linen.

When I work with linen I'm thinking cool Italian elegance mixed with Scandinavian romantic summer lightness. In Scandinavian we have this long light days from early morning 3.30 AM till 10.30 PM during the summer:

This year my work is inspired by Skagens Painters who garthered in the village of Skagen in the Northern Denmark, where the light in summer time is even more bright due to the ocean surrounding this area of Denmark. Especially the paint "Roses"  and  "Maria Krøyer" by P.S. Krøyer is my mind:
